2008 GREATER KANSAS CITY RESTAURANT ASSOCIATIONĄ¯S
RESTAURATEURS OF THE YEAR!
| RICHARD AND THERESA NG, co-owners of Bo LingĄ¯s Restaurants of Kansas City, were named 2008 Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association Restaurateurs of the Year at the annual Gilbert-Robinson Lecture Series Dinner & Awards Ceremony November 12.
Friends in the hospitality and restaurant business from all over metro KC were on hand for the occasion. The Ngs began their restaurant career in 1981. They have won numerous awards for their gourmet Chinese menus by numerous local and national publications including Kansas City Magazine, USA Today, and Chinese Restaurant News. |
Richard and Theresa have six restaurants in the metro including their newest one in City Market at Fifth and Walnut; Plaza Board of Trade at 4800 Main; 91st and Metcalf in Overland Park; across from Oak Park Mall at 95th and Quivira in Orchard Corner Shopping Center in Lenexa; 135th and Metcalf in Overland Park South; and Zona Rosa Shopping Center at 1-29 and Barry Road in North Kansas City.
Richard has won international cooking awards from the Taiwanese Federation and ChinaĄ¯s best chefs (ask him how he manages to stand a flounder on its head!), and has never flagged in his enthusiasm for learning to cook new dishes. When his wife sent him on a vacation to Australia, he wandered into a Thai restaurant on his first night in Sydney and liked it so much, he spent the next two weeks cooking in their kitchen and learning Thai cuisine instead of sightseeing!
The Ngs strive to offer a balance of Bo LingĄ¯s favorites as well as new regional Chinese cuisine, so there is always something fresh and interesting on the Bo LingĄ¯s menu. The Ngs are also known for their weekend Dim Sum --- named one of the Top 10 best dishes in the city by KC Star food critic Lauren Chapin! ItĄ¯s the best brunch in town, with over 50 delicious Chinese appetizers to choose from. Bo LingĄ¯s also caters some of the best parties in town, and recently added a new, huge catering menu. There is no end to their enthusiasm for the future of fine Chinese food in our city --- and loyal Kansas City customers canĄ¯t get enough of it. The Ngs and staff of Bo LingĄ¯s are hard at work now, planning a Chinese New Year celebration in City Market Ą donĄ¯t miss it!
